Big keywords look tempting, but they're usually dominated by giant websites. Small businesses grow faster by targeting specific questions.
Think in questions, not words
Instead of "accounting software", think "accounting software for freelance designers". Longer phrases have less competition and clearer intent.
Use what you already know
Your sales emails and support tickets are full of keyword ideas. Write down the exact words customers use.
| Generic | Specific |
|---|---|
| running shoes | running shoes for flat feet |
| CRM | simple CRM for two-person teams |
Prioritise by intent
Pick phrases where the searcher is close to a decision. These convert better, even with lower volume.
